A Survey on Monitoring Quality Assessment for Wireless Visual Sensor Networks

Wireless visual sensor networks have been adopted in different contexts to provide information a more flexible and distributed way, supporting the development of innovative applications. Although data may be central for considerable set applications areas such as Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, Vehicular Networks, actual quality not easily determined since it associated with many factors that depend on characteristics considered application scenario. This entails several aspects from captured images (sharpness, definition, resolution) employed hardware, power consumption, networking efficiency. In order better support analysis performance comparisons among wireless networks, which could valuable monitoring scenarios, this article surveys area special concern assessment mechanisms metrics. context, novel classification approach is proposed categorize diverse applicable metrics procedures. Hence, yields practical guide analyzing network implementations, allowing fairer evaluations variety research works. Critical are also performed regarding relevance usage categories identified Finally, promising open issues directions discussed new developments field.
